Eastern Sierra Photography Workshop 2012 Report

Photography Workshop Report

11/2/2012-

I just got back from another great photo trip to the Eastern Sierras. It turned out that the trip was a night photography and moonlight photography workshop of sorts. Fellow photographer Javier Flores and I had done this trip many times over the past twenty years but had never focused on night photography before and this was a great treat!

What made it special was the clear sky’s and the full moon pattern. The moon rose as the sun set and set before sun rise. If we had planned this kind of shooting we probably would have got clouds and setting out on this trip that is exactly what we wanted. I love the dramatic clouds that happen in the Eastern Sierras.

The trick is, to make the best of what you have in landscape and nature photography and what we had is the perfect weekend for night photography.

We also had Dave and Eliza Snow joining us and they were great to have along. They had the same spirt of being there to get some great shots and having fun with photography. It was fun to see the shots they were getting and it was some good stuff. My favorites were painting the South Tufa Towers at Mono lake with the stars in the sky and the red painted arch in the Alabama Hills with the mountains and stars.

Lots of fun and great shooting! Can’t wait to do it again!!!
