Ok I’ll admit I ought to post more here. But I like to get out and get away from my computer and enjoy the great outdoors. That brings me to purpose of this post. In 48 hours I have a photographic workshop planned to visit the famous Yosemite Valley, the mysterious Mono Lake and it’s strange tufa towers, the ghost town of Bodie and down to the wondrous landscape of the Alabama Hills near The Mount Whitney Portal. All along our trip on the Eastern Sierras the aspens will be showing the fall changing of the leaves of yellows, orange, reds and greens that the Eastern Sierras have become notorious about. Places along the way we may elect to see and photograph are the Ancient Bristlecone Forest, The petroglyphs around Bishop or the area around Mammoth Mountain
So I’ll admit that I’ve never taught a workshop in the past but I believe that I do have something to offer to the many photographers out there just learning the craft and the many photographers out there who know digital photography better than I do. For the novice I have over twenty years in the photography industry to share. Even more important, for every photographer, I know the area and where and when to go to get some really nice shots.
My first workshop I took was in this area in 1988. I brought a 35mm camera and a 4×5 view camera and shot film. Yes film! Black and White film to be specific. Oh and I got a ride to the workshop that took nineteen hours to arrive in Death Valley. But that’s another story, what I learned is photographers just want to make great pictures and workshops give us the special sauce to get our photography to the next level.
Here is the details: Mono Lake Workshop
Mono Lake Fall 2011 October 21, 22 and 23rd 2011
So, Me and my buddy Javier Flores will go on a photographic excursion we have done numerous times over the past twenty years. Both of us are working professionals that have sold travel and landscape images from these trips and thought it would be fun to have a small group join us.
We seem to be at the right places at the right time and we thought other photographers might want to join us. While we have never offered this in the past, we aim to please and will be more than willing to share anything and everything about the area, photography or the business of photography that we know. Including the best places to eat, and photograph. And share the many possibilities of interpreting the images from black and white to HDR, from film to digital, from travel to lifestyle, from landscape to movement. Feel free to bring some samples of your work as we would love to see them.
We really hope you can make it and are excited to offer it. We have space to share the cost of transportation and lodging for two, otherwise students are responsible for transportation and lodging.
